Okay, Moonwalkers popped up on Netflix recently so I checked it out last night! First off just the artwork alone caught my eye. But then the description.... So after reading that, and if you know anything about me it seems pretty perfect for me to watch because 1. My main drive in life is music! and because I am not musically inclined I decided to go into graphic design and film/animation. BUT all my videos combine the two!! 2. I'm pretty obsessed with space which is why I use "SPACEBATS" for everything. BUT 2.5 my birthday July 20th is the same day as the moon landing, but 20 years later. ALSO this year 2019 is the 50th anniversary of the moon landing!! (SAVE THE DATE I WILL BE ANNOUNCING MY PARTY DETAILS VERY SOON) |
I don't think I remember seeing Moonwalkers advertised before as it was released 4 years ago, but what a better time then the 50th anniversary of the real moon landing to watch it!
It is a really crazy trippy weird movie, so many people may not like it but I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 stars. As I already mentioned it combines my love for space/the moon with music and film. I also love a good conspiracy theory and have studied (in film school) and appreciate Stanley Kubrick. The cast was pretty interesting as we have Rupert Grint and Robert Sheehan in two of the leading roles.

Rupert aka Ron Weasley from Harry Potter all grown up as Jonny a down on his luck band manager trying to make it big to pay off some debts before he gets chopped to bits. Jonny "kinda" wants to make everyone happy/can't stand up for himself. The band is demanding a Rock Opera after his promises over the years of getting them a deal as well as helping them create a rock opera (that does sound like an okay idea- but maybe not with this band- they kinda just are stereotypical jagoffs, but it works for the film)
I'm really not a huge Harry Potter fan, I've seen them all, I like them but I've seen them all enough is my opinion. Although on the other hand I do love the Fantastic Beast series!

Robert Sheehan who now is known as Klaus from The Umbrella Academy. (Which I did start writing about and I'm trying to decide how to post my I watch too much TV blog, as parts or as a whole). His character Leon in Moonwalkers is very similar to Klaus in that he loves to party, party all the time but is also a sweet and caring human soul! Leon is convinced by Johnny to pose as Stanley Kubrick in order to gain a case of money, to pay off his debts.
Moonwalkers is a comedy so his character is a little bit less dark but over all similar. My love for Klaus and The Umbrella Academy is just another reason Moonwalkers was more relevant to me now then it would have been in 2015.

And now is the part where I start to forget what I was going to say... Also as always please remember I am not a writer also this really isn't a review or recap of any particular sort, just as always my random thoughts and more so stories about myself! Also forget because I'm writing during my down time at work. ALSO let me know if you like me writing about movies and tv.
now let me scroll though the video to try to think of anything more to say besides I like the actors and themes of the movie.. I suppose one thing would be is I really never looked into the conspiracy theories about the moon landing, never really thought about it that way.
I really got distracted here, also I don't want to spoil it, I want you to go watch it and have a discussion here! I would say there is a balance of things and themes; rock n roll, space, fights (quite a few good bloody ones) maybe more of battle in a few, partying/drugs, a bit of history (kinda), super weird artistic crazy mansion, a few good guys but most of the characters are kinda dicks but maybe for the comedy. WATCH IT!!!
